Computers are Dumb??

There is no doubt that we are surrounded by computers and they are part of our lives now!!

In early 90s, the world was introduced to a new technology. The technology of calculating large amount in no time. But it was not in common man’s approach as they were costly and consume a lot of energy and space. As time passed they become cheaper, decrease in size made it easy for every man to afford a machine that can work more than performing calculations. Yes, computers!!

Since EVERYONE can afford a computer now, it is not all about calculations these days. The main purpose of computer is no more calculating some amount, now it is about storing data that contains office data, books, songs stuff. It displays a colorful variety of objects as output which is considered as one of the great invention. The term EVERYONE CAN AFFORD a computer will be discussed in our next blog. A very simple invention and some simple uses are discussed here just to make people know how they came up to this electronic device on which they are reading this blog.

The main aspect or one can say that this is about interaction of computers with humans. These days, Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is taken as a subject in world-class institutes to make people understand the role of computers and their uses. Computers are dumb. They do not think, but they think somehow. Let’s clear this with a simple example. Suppose you want to add two number, let’s consider these two numbers may be 3 and 4 or any. When someone add these two numbers he thinks first then he came up to some result and 7 is the answer. When it came to computers, it is a dumb machine which is going to give no result unless you direct that machine to do so. One must give instructions first then expect output. Well you are going to open calculator and then putt these two numbers in to it. Oh, same is the result.

Does it mean computer thinks? Yes, they do. It depends. They are dumb unless you give instructions to the computer then they are going to execute required instructions. They think only in case they are assigned to do something. Otherwise they are just machines. A computer used for positive purpose can help you get rid of many problems and can help you achieve many things. This is one of the main aspect or main use or main help for humans.
